I can't believe I'm in the third trimester! Eeek! So close to meeting baby girl this summer! The second trimester seemed so long, but looking back, it went fast! We are so thankful that this has been a smooth pregnancy (praise the Lord!). I think so much of it is determined by your body/out of your control, but then there is also a really big mindset piece that you can control. Overall, I try to stay positive, and not let myself think about any negative "what if" situations. One of my daily affirmations is "Thank you, Lord, that I'm enjoying an easy and relaxing pregnancy...."
We did some traveling, some major nesting, and a lot of home projects! Overall, I've felt great during the second trimester (so thankful!); there were a few ups and downs and I could tell that my emotions were a little more sensitive than normal, but I tried to stay flexible and listen to what my body needed each day, which was helpful.
I haven't had any "symptoms" that were notable enough for me to document, but here's what I've been up to for the last 13ish weeks!
Projects:
We built a custom Nursery Closet and I'm so happy with how it turned out. You can see my closet inspo here. Of course the project took much longer than it needed to, but I'm so happy it's done!
Painting the House Exterior was a big task, and it took so many quotes and conversations with contractors. I explain everything in the full post, but it's the biggest home renovation check mark and I couldn't be happier!
Questions:
I get the same questions pretty frequently, so I wanted to answer them here. I've loved reading these types of posts that share pregnancy experiences from other women, so I hope this post helps you!
How do you modify your workouts?
I've done Stay Fit Virtual/Stay Fit Brit's workouts for over a year now and love them. There are a few pregnancy-specific workouts in the program, so I do those occasionally, and I wrote down the specific pregnancy-safe moves from those videos (specifically, the core exercises). Now I usually do her regular videos (45 minutes) and shorten the core sections by a minute or so and do my own core moves. I do a lot of cat/cow and bird dog! ;) I also don't skip the stretching at the end - so important, especially now!
What are you wearing?
Well, pants no longer fit, SO I've transitioned to mainly dresses and athleisure. So far, I have some flowy summer dresses that have been able to work with my bump. I also do Rent the Runway monthly subscription so that has been helpful so I don't feel like I have to buy an all-new wardrobe that will only fit me for a few months. There are maternity-specific pieces on RTR but I usually size up one size and look for flowy dresses with elastic waistbands.
How are you feeling?
I'm so thankful that I feel pretty good overall! I know pregnancy is different for everyone and some women feel nausceous the whole time, some get huge, some stay small. It's so interesting to me how everyone is so different.
One of my daily affirmations is "my body is strong and knows exactly how to grow a healthy baby..." and another is "I'm maintaining my workouts and healthy habits and only growing in my belly..." Can't hurt, right? ;)
Do you have a name yet?
We have some front-runners, but haven't officially decided on a name yet. TBH I was never the girl who had a list of names waiting for her baby and naming a human has been tough for me!
Is the nursery done?
Lol no. We are currently mid-construction on a new back door/entry from the garage AND are waiting for our landscapers to plant all of our front and side yard flower beds (now that the house is painted!)
Some of the nursery items will be added to the registry, and some of them we'll purchase in advance. I love the cottage-core style and a floral wallpaper, but I also love a more modern look using black and white. I've said for a while now that the nursery will either be black and white or all pink.... haha we'll see where we end up.
Is your registry done?
*Almost!* I have a few more details that I think I should add, but for the most part, it's complete. You would think it would be so easy to fill up your registry, but I'm the type of person who wants to research every option, then pick the best one for me. I ALSO am the type of person who wants some things purely for aesthetics or no reason at all...so I'm trying to find the balance there. My husband tries to encourage me by saying "just pick one" lol but at the end of the day, there are a lot of great options and I probably will fine with anything that I choose.
I'm balancing "hustling to get it all done" with "relaxing and enjoying this season".... which is a little tough for me, but I keep reminding myself that my body and my baby are the priorities and that anything else can wait or be done later. You know I love my checkmarks and getting things done, so I'm still doing a lot, but I'm also reminding myself that when I need rest, I totally deserve it! So far, I haven't felt any guilt for taking naps, eating carbs, or relaxing on the couch. ;) Love y'all!
