Holiday and theme parties are my favorites, so of course I’m excited about Cinco de Mayo and am hosting a fiesta! Even though I have hosted Cinco de Mayo parties in the past, brainstorming and coming up with creative party ideas still requires some inspiration for me. Exploring has always been a way for me to become inspired and I love to get outside and experience different neighborhoods in my city…. so that’s exactly what I did last weekend! A girlfriend and I explored a neighborhood of Dallas that I had never been to before and had a blast!
Before last weekend, I had no idea that this neighborhood in South Dallas existed, and let’s just say that I wouldn’t have been comfortable walking around at night, but during the day Jefferson Blvd. had so many colorful storefronts and unique shops that you don’t see anywhere else in Dallas, which made it fun to explore and photograph! The dress I’m wearing is from last year’s trip to Cabo, and I was so thrilled to finally be able to wear it!
I happened to see a photo months ago of this mural of Selena, and I knew I had to find it! I lived in Corpus Christi for 4 years and grew up watching the movie “Selena,” so I felt like I had to visit this wall and snap a few photos! (PS. The movie is soooo good and you have to watch it!)
Jefferson Blvd. has a couple ice cream shops/windows, but we found a “Neveria” (ice cream shop) and had to try their all-natural strawberry ice cream- so good!
Exploring is one of my favorite things and never disappoints me. Especially if you’re in need of some creative inspiration, grab a friend and go explore your city!
