I hosted a donut-themed birthday party for a friend over the weekend and it was such a hit! All of our guests loved the milk shots, donut cake, and giant photo booth wall! Our cake table featured a birthday "cake" made out of donuts and adorned with pink roses- perfect for the birthday girl. We also crafted donut towers using dowel rods to display our tasty treats, and to our surprise we barely had any leftover donuts!
I wanted to show you the impact a few simple party accessories (like confetti!) make to a cake table, so I took photos as I assembled my display. First, I set up my main components: the donut stands.
Next, I built my donut cake with glazed donuts and started stacking like-donuts together in donut towers. Shout-out, strawberry sprinkles!
As you can see in the photo above, my donut build is complete, but it doesn't look very festive...until I add my secret ingredient: CONFETTI!
Adding pink confetti and a few flowers to make the cake extra special make a huge difference in presentation. I love how such simple items can transform the whole display! Confetti and crepe paper are two of the least expensive party supplies out there, but they give this donut display just what it needs to pop!
One of my favorite parts of this party was the giant photo booth wall that we built in my house. We covered a doorway to do it and it paid off! I'll have to create a crepe paper streamer DIY to show you how we created this fun scalloped edge. I love that the entire wall was covered so now matter how many people were in a photo, the backdrop was't covered.
Donuts were the star of the party, including these mini white powdered donuts- we used them as garnish on champagne flutes filled with milk and a striped straw, of course. (These striped straws are my favorite!)
Cheers to donuts and a great weekend with friends!
