I LOVE having a Halloween party every year, and since 2020 has been *such* a hot mess so far, I'm just skipping ahead to Halloween and getting a head-start on decorating! I don't like anything too creepy, but love a good black and white theme (get out of here, tacky orange everything!!). I'm not going all out just yet, but wanted to share a few ideas with you. To see my Halloween party setup from last year, check out my Boo Bash 2019 post!
This skull candle below is easily the most creepy thing I'm decorating with. I didn't realized when I bought him, but as the wick burns, he starts to ooze wax out of his eye sockets (ugh) so that's neat. Kind of gross, but I'm still going to use him haha! I stay away from orange, purple, and green halloween decor and try to stick to a neutral balck and white palette. Skeletons, bats, spiders, and ghosts are all fair game, so I still have plenty to work with.
My big update this year was the purchase of tall black candle sticks! I just love them! If you're wanting to add a little bit of spooky decor to your home without going overboard, then black candles are an easy place to start, and look great in any candelabra candle stick holder.
I'll do a little more decorating as the Halloween party gets closer (yes, I'm still having one, but smaller, of course!), but I wanted to go ahead and share the items that I'm using to give you time to browse and find some things for your own home. I love picking a few areas at home to focus decor, as opposed to covering everything in spiderweb! I went with my dining room table and buffet, my guest bathroom, my piano, and my formal living coffee table. I put together a few vignettes of candle groupings, old books, and skeletons to make things a little spooky.
There is one thing that I really want to get, but can't justify spending money one it...a skull fire log! Haha yes! It's for the fire pit or fire place, and I just think it would be such a funny addition, but I really can't justify the purchase right now, so we'll see how I feel as October gets closer! Have fun decorating!
