If you've never taken a staycation yourself, you have undoubtedly seen your favorite blogger working with a hotel or hanging with friends and doing a "staycation" in her own city. I recently stayed at Hotelette in Dallas for my own staycation and it didn't go as planned, but ended up being even better than I could have imagined! Hotelette is similar to an Airbnb, but it's open for guests full-time and is rented independently via their website. They also have locations in Austin and Nashville, and after staying at their hip house in Bishop Arts in Dallas, I definitely want to visit their other two locations! School is out and it's vacation season, so whether you have a huge trip planned or aren't able to get out of town for a while, I'm sharing a few reasons why you need to plan a staycation in your city!
EXPLORE YOUR CITY
I love exploring new spots in Dallas, trying new restaurants, and going on adventures! Hotelette Dallas was perfect for that because it is located in the up-and-coming Bishop Arts area in Dallas, which is also home to one of my favorite spots in my Dallas Pizza Guide!
I love trying new restaurants in Uptown, Downtown, Deep Ellum, and Bishop Arts, but I'm usually coming from the north! Having a South Dallas home base for the weekend gave me a chance to discover a new part of Dallas without having to drive 45 minutes each time to do it. I planned to host a small dinner party at Hotelette on Friday night, but last minute (since no food was prepared!) we decided to snag a dinner reservation instead. It was the *perfect* excuse to ask my North Dallas friends to drive south for dinner so they could see Hotelette afterwards! We ended up going to dinner in Victory Park (which is not a normal spot for us!), then visiting a (sketchyyy) place called Daiquiris To Go and heading back to Hotelette to relax!
NEW PERSPECTIVE
Driving around a new part of town was so fun because I got to see Dallas from a new perspective! Even seeing the skyline from the south instead of the north was fun for me. Staying in a different part of town than you're used to or in a different style of home than yours can easily change your perspective and make you thankful for your own house, inspire you to try a different style of decor, or challenge you to make changes to your daily life! Personally, I've been struggling to finish decorating the front two rooms of my home and staying at Hotelette fueled the fire to start looking for new artists and art pieces again! I love how easy it is for a new space to inspire you to action. Every inch of Hotelette was perfectly decorated, and now I can't wait to work on my own home!
I loved getting to experience a different part of Dallas with friends, and I hope you're inspired to do the same in your own city!
