We are about 2 weeks away from meeting our daughter (omg!) and I can't believe it! Really, she could come at any time, so I'm trying to be as prepared as possible (within reason). We've been working on the nursery, but are still waiting on the last few items; I've got some of my hospital bag packed; and I've made a few freezer meals and set up our meal train website...but who knows how we will be feeling those first few weeks!
Our plan is to have a bassinet in our bedroom, so this mobile utility cart will primarily be in my bedroom, not the nursery. BUT it's on wheels, so I'll be able to relocate it easily if I want to.
Honestly, I was putting this off because it is *humbling* to buy adult diapers, but here we are (lol).
I added this utility cart to my baby shower registry and I'm so glad I did. It was a breeze to assemble and I already feel great about having it handy right now, then being able to repurpose it after the newborn stage. I just bought these clear bins for some kitchen organizing and I used one on the middle shelf - it was a perfect fit!
Top Shelf: (Baby) Diapering
I *think* these are the items I'll be reaching for the most, so top shelf for easy access.
I've been using the Hatch Belly Oil my whole pregnancy and have loved it; I plan to keep using it during the 4th trimester, so I'm keeping it handy!
I've heard great things about the Honest Co. Nipple Balm, and the Triple Paste was a gift from a mom friend and I love that it is a clean product.
I'm using Coterie wipes and diapers and looking forward to seeing if the hype is really worth it. I've got my diaper backstock organized in bins in the nursery closet and will also have a changing station on the nursery dresser.
Middle Shelf: Breastfeeding
Of course I'm leaving some room for snacks! I'm weirdly excited to try this S1 Plus breast pump from Spectra! I've got the pump and accessories ready to go, along with the most-recommended milk storage bags from Lansinoh.
I thought about buying one of the super portable pump options, like the Elvie, but in reality, I have a pretty flexible lifestyle as far as being self-employed, working from home, and being able to take maternity leave, so I'm going with the S1 Plus for now and hoping that I'll be pleased with its power and not bothered by it's less-portable design. Although, the S1 Plus is rechargeable *and* my cart is on wheels, so we'll see how I feel in a few weeks. ;)
Bottom Shelf: Postpartum Care
This shelf was the most humbling to assemble! I've never had to buy adult diapers, but hey, if I have to have them, let's at least organize them in an aesthetic way on my cart ;) For now, an assortment of diapers, pads, and panty liners are on my bottom shelf. Depending on how I'm feeling, I may add a few more things and have some items handy in the bathrooms, but I'm at least stocked with the basics for now.
A lot of our bathroom storage is in the guest bath, so I wanted these items to be as accessible as possible. The utility cart seems like the perfect solution and it will fit nicely between my nightstand and the wall in the corner of our bedroom, right next to the bathroom.
I've researched quite a bit and am trying to be as prepared as possible, so I hope this post helps some of you who are expecting as well! Shoot me a DM @rhondajenkins with questions!
