I can't believe it's almost August! Even though I'm excited to wear my new fall clothes (shoutout to the #nsale!), I'm not ready for summer to be over yet! There are a few summertime activities that I look forward to each year during the warmer months, but I haven't done ANY of them yet, so I made a summer bucket list to ensure that I squeeze the last bit of enjoyment out of my summer! :) Here are a few of my favorite activities that I'm going to do my best to focus on during the next month!
1. Rangers Game
Grab tickets to support your Texas Rangers; dollar hot dog night is of course my favorite night to go to a game and sing "take me out to the ballgame!"
2. Drive-In Movie
Now we've got drive in options near Dallas and I LOVE the nostalgic feel of going to a drive in movie. The Galaxy Drive-In in Ennis, Coyote Drive-In in Lewisville, and Coyote Drive-In in Ft. Worth are both great options for a night under the stars watching a double feature!
3. Popsicle Dates (often)
I LOVE enjoying summer treats like popsicles and I don't do it enough! I made a special trip to Steel City Pops for this blog post photo and I'm so glad that I did because I forgot how delicious they are! Instead of coffee dates with gal pals, I'm going to push for popsicle dates.
4. Snow Cone Date
Snow cones are not quite as "healthy" as my less than 100 calorie popsicles that I eat from Steel City, but they are a special summer treat nonetheless and I want to enjoy one before it's too late! One of my favorite places is Bahama Bucks, even though it's quite a drive from my house. I need to pick a weekend night to make the trip!
*Edit: I just got an update from a friend that there is now a Bahama Bucks in Dallas near Top Golf at Skillman/Abrams!! Best news!!
5. Bake an Apple Pie
I missed my real opportunity to make the most American dessert ever for the Fourth of July, but there's still time to make one from scratch! Of course I eat my apple pie "a la mode"...maybe I could squeeze in a pie before I go to a Rangers game for one super American evening! Then there's the old pie dilemma- to use butter or shortening in the pie crust?! I guess I'll have to make two pies- one of each- to compare recipes!
6. Picnic
I love picnics and I even have the cutest picnic basket, so I need to use it before summer leaves us! Granted, in Dallas, the heat lasts well into the "fall," but there is something fun about packing a summer picnic and heading to White Rock Lake to watch the sunset over the water (maybe I could even bring popsicles!).
I hope you enjoy my suggestions and make the most out of the rest of your summer! Dallas friends, let's knock some of these out together!
