"Bye, Felicia!" I can't believe 2016 is gone! I know some of you are thinking it's already been two weeks and I should be over it, but I'm not! I still can't quite grasp how quickly last year flew by and all of the ups and downs that came throughout the year. Last January I wrote a post about Growth and announced my new job in Event Marketing; this January I'm also announcing a new job in Event Marketing (working for myself!). It's funny to look back and see how much has changed within a year. I'm looking ahead to a new year full of new adventures: being self-employed, freelance event planning, marketing consulting, and being able to devote more time to blogging and brand development as I narrow my focus. For the past few years, I've wanted to "do it all" but I know that events are my passion and a natural talent that God has gifted me with, so I'm thrilled to be able to focus on developing as an event planner. Every job I have been in since college (that I've hated or loved) and every party that I've thrown at my house has helped prepare me for this role in the Event and Marketing Consulting space and I am so thankful for that journey. I still plan to have a good old-fashioned house party every now and then, but probably won't invite 200 people! Sorry, not sorry. Here's to a new year of learning and doing what brings me joy.
Looking back at a few of my favorite moments and events from 2016. If you're new to The Skinny Arm, here are a few highlights from last year:
Attending Alt Summit in January!
Creating one of my favorite visual installations for my Galentine's shoot.
Hosting a random "let's see if people will come to this" dance party in March...the March Masquerade!
Turning 29! With a Flamingo Party!
Hosting a donut party for my favorite gal pal! and wearing this dress.
Being laid off! (yep, turned out to be a good thing! PS. I still shop at Nordstrom!)
Eating dinner under the stars at Friendsgiving!
Eating all the french toast in Dallas as "research" for Dallas Blogger Brunch!
BEATS & BUBBLY!! Of course! The whole night felt magical...read my recap post or learn about my event sponsors and partners.
